NZ Press Council rules against anti-homeopathy article

New_Zealand_Cities-1_zps4540081dLast year, New Zealand North and South magazine carried a misleading article called “Homeopathy – Trick or Treatment?” that claimed:

“….homeopathic remedies have failed every randomised, evidence-based scientific study seeking to verify their claims of healing powers.”

and,

“…there is no scientific evidence of homeopathy’s efficacy.”

Following a complaint by Tauranga homeopath, Clive Stuart, the NZ Press Council stated that newspapers and magazines “need to take particular care in references to medical research” and has now ruled that, “The references in this case were not sufficiently accurate, balanced or fair to homeopathy and its practitioners. On those grounds the complaint was upheld”.
