Pharmacists Divided
A PROPOSAL to scrap homeopathic products from pharmacies nationwide has sparked debate. An interim report says products "should not be sold in PBS-approved pharmacies". Users of homeopathy say, "Any review based on prejudice doesn't have an upside, it's misinformed."
Cooperation in Homeopathy
An agreement between India and Sri Lanka for cooperation in health care has just been reached. "The signing of the proposed MoU will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of traditional medicine and homeopathy...".
Homeopaths Call on Government
Natural therapists and homeopaths have called on the Federal Government to come clean about “bias” which threatens to restrict access to complementary medicines. AHA Vice-President, Gerry Dendrinos, said “It is completely unacceptable that such a flawed NHMRC review is now relied on to try bring about drastic change….”
TGA: The Wheel Turns Slowly
What's happening with the recent TGA consultation on homeopathy - Options for the Future Regulation of 'Low Risk' Products? We asked and they replied: "As the review involves potential policy changes, the Minister needs to be informed of the consultation outcomes and approve any proposed policy changes. We are currently working through the Ministerial process and will publish the submissions in due course." We have now asked the TGA which proposals they have recommended to the minister. We will update you with their response, once received.
Swiss National Health Insurance
Ending years of scientific programs abused for political purposes, homeopathy will become a mandatory part of the Swiss National Health Insurance from the 1st August, 2017. Medical doctors prescribing homeopathy are expected to have a qualification in it.
India: Cancer Research
The NIPCR has received government funding for research on homeopathy in which patients will use homeopathy beside other drugs. Dr Manchanda says, “The idea is to conduct molecular research on certain homeopathic medicines to see how effective they can be in treating cancer,”
