General Information
Calcarea Sulphurica (Calc-s.) is a remedy for infected discharges (suppuration) with thick and yellow pus, or the tendency for wounds and infections to suppurate in this manner. The discharge may arise from an abscess, sinusitis, middle ear infection (otitis media), tonsillitis, infected wound, empyema (pus around a lung), pneumonia, ulcer, or gonorrhoea. Infections are described as ‘pus with a vent’ rather than being closed infections. The person needing Calc-s tends to dislike warm environments or wraps and prefers open air but dislikes drafts. From Past Masters
Homeopathy is a 200-year system of medicine. Early medical homeopaths recorded initial provings, remedy relationships, and their early experiences with each remedy in great detail.
These writings were then shared with others to advance homeopathic knowledge and practice.
Today, these same writings give a fascinating insight into the symptoms and clinical conditions for which each remedy was used.
The following extract, with minor editing, is one example.
Leaders In Homoeopathic Therapeutics by E. B. NASH M.D.
Calcarea Sulphurica (Calc-s.)
One of Schuessler’s so-called tissue remedies, not well understood as yet, but acting much along the line of Hepar sulphur, so far as we do know.
I once had a case in which there was great pain in the region of the kidneys for a day and night. Then there was a great discharge of pus in the urine, which continued several days and weakened the patient very fast. A Chicago specialist had examined the urine a short time before, and had pronounced the case Bright’s disease.
I finally prescribed Calcarea sulphurica l2th and under its action she immediately improved and made a very rapid and permanent recovery.
Since then I have found it a good remedy in profuse suppurations in different kinds of cases. This is all I know about the remedy.
